There are several important issues that require property owners’ attention during December.
Annual General Meeting
This meeting will be held on December 21st at 17:00 in the Community Hall.
Important issues to be discussed at the AGM will be:
- The Baboon Management Plan – progress to date, key issues and the way forward.
- Security Plan – the what, when and why.
- The formation of a Special Rates Area in Natures Valley. Process for approaching property owners for approval to implement an SRA, Bitou Municipality SRA bylaw plan, SRA timeline for implementation.
- Progress on other issues identified at the previous AGM.
An agenda will be made public a week before the AGM meeting.
Subject to any change in Covid Regulations, social distancing will be observed, masks must be worn, and the hall will be cross ventilated.
The NVRA Committee
The NVRA has embarked upon some significant initiatives during this year including baboon management, motivation for bylaws allowing special rates areas in Bitou, security assessment and the motivation for stricter bylaws for waste management. We have four confirmed committee members for 2022 which is inadequate if we are to properly manage members expectations for these important issues as well as the equally important requirement to continually engage with Bitou on service delivery matters.
To a large extent, the current committee consists of members who have served for many years, and it is vital that they are in a position to hand over the reins to a new generation of owners. Nominations for NVRA members to sit on the NVRA committee are required at the AGM. In the face of mounting service and security expectations from the community, the committee is in urgent need of new committee members who are prepared to offer some of their time towards improving our infrastructure, maintaining the integrity of the single residential status of the village, protecting the natural environment and ensuring that NV remains a safe and desirable environment for property owners.
If you feel you can help to make a difference, please indicate that you would be prepared to accept a nomination as a committee member.
While our constitution requires a majority of committee members to be permanently resident in Natures Valley, interested members may also be co-opted by the committee on specific projects or portfolios so whether you are a permanent or occasional resident, a nomination would be welcome. Portfolios where we need support are:
- SRA development.
- Newsletter and external communication Safety and Security.
- Environment (SANParks, Estuary Management, Public Open Spaces) Built Environment. Liaison with municipality and owners.

R102 roadworks
Maintenance of the western section of the R102 from the N2 turn off in the Crags to Natures Valley and the eastern section from Natures Valley to the Eastern Cape border in the Bloukrans pass has started. Minor crack repairs have been completed and resurfacing of the eastern section of the R102 (towards the toll gate) is scheduled to commence from the 10th January 2022. Once completed, the contractor will then switch to the western section of the R102 (towards Plett). Stop/go sections will be established to control traffic as resurfacing progresses. The expected completion date for the contract is on or around December 2022.

Nuusflits
The NVBV-komitee
Stuur aan Roy by nvrawebsite@gmail.com.
R102 Padwerke
